With the final week of July upon us, the 2010 football season is right around the corner, and we will be looking at the various positions for the 2010 Noles football team. The first position that we will be reviewing is the most important offensive positon, which is the Quarterback.

The Seminoles are looking very good when it comes to the signal caller position, as the offense will be led by fifth-year senior quarterback Christian Ponder. Last season Ponder posted the sixth best season for total offense in ACC history with 321.8 yards per game before being injured in the game against the Clemson Tigers in 2009. Last season, Ponder proved he could be dangerous passing or rushing with the football. Through the air, he completed 227 passes out of 330 attempts for a total of 2,717 yards for 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rushing, Ponder ran the ball 72 times for a total of 179 yards and two touchdowns.

As far as backup quarterbacks are concerned, Florida State is in very good shape as they have EJ Manuel, who proved he could perform as a starter under pressure. After the injury to Ponder in the Clemson game, Manuel was 3-1 as the Seminoles starter, capped by his MVP performance in the Noles Gator Bowl victory over West Virginia. Manuel appeared in a total of seven games, and he also proved he could move the football through the air and on the ground. In his seven appearances, Manuel racked up 196 yards rushing on 44 attempts with two touchdowns, and also was 69 for 106 through the air for 817 yards and two touchdowns.

Also in the wings for the Seminoles are Redshirt freshman Will Secord and freshman Clint Trickett.
