Second-ranked Florida State (11-0) remained undefeated on Monday evening as they defeated the Jacksonville University Dolphins (6-5) as three Seminole pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout en route to a 2-0 win.
The 3112 fans, who were present to witness Monday's game at John Sessions Stadium on Monday night were three outs away from witnessing the ninth no-hitter in Florida State history and the first since February 18, 1998 when Chris Chavez threw a no-hitter against Charleston Southern in a 13-0 Seminole victory. The no-hitter came to an end when JU first baseman Alex Martinez singled back up the middle on a 3-2 pitch off Tyler Everett.
Everett bounced back and was able to get a fly out and a ground out, before handing the ball over to Daniel Bennett for the final out of the game.
